You’re out to lunch eating some French fries with ketchup and all of a sudden spill some ketchup on your nice work clothes! Oh no! Well, here are the best directions in order to remove the awful ketchup stain from your nice clothing.
First, take caution and remove as much of the ketchup as you can when you notice this happens. Next, run some cold water through the back of the stain as quickly as you notice it. This will help force the stain back through the fabric so it is easier to remove. Once you get home, find some liquid detergent and rub it onto the stained portion of your clothing. Make sure you work it in gently so the fabric does not ruin. If the fabric is white, you could apply a mild bleaching detergent such as hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar to help remove the stain. Use a sponge to work the detergent into the fabric and then rinse with water. Repeat the above steps with detergent followed by a mild bleaching agent until the stain is completely gone. Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray onto the stain portion.
Allow the agent to sit for about five minutes so it will soak into the stain. Next, put the clothing in the washing machine and wash according to the directions on the clothing. Before you stick the item of clothing into the dryer, check the stain to make sure it is gone. If the stain remains, rub some liquid detergent onto the stain and then soak in some warm water for about thirty minutes. Rinse off the detergent. After these directions are followed, the stain should be removed and you are able to wear that outfit back to work! Make sure you don’t spill anymore ketchup on that shirt!
